Chanel Thomas MSN, FNP-BC is a family nurse practitioner with five years of health care experience. She is currently completing her DNP in PMHNP at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee. She earned her BSN and BA in Spanish at Belmont University in 2018, and MSN at Middle Tennessee State University in 2021. She completed a Community Based Nurse Practitioner residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she was able to work directly with underinsured and uninsured patients. She is adjunct faculty at South College where she teaches mental health nursing for LPN and BSN students. She has developed quality improvement projects related to educating stakeholders and promoting system changes to improve LGBTQIA+ health and reproductive health outcomes. Her other interests include perceptions of mental illness by BIPOC communities, and inclusivity of nursing curricula.
